Each employer is different however below is some general information to be aware of.

Each state differs slightly in the minimum requirements for mine site employment. In in general terms, the following are the usual minimum requirements. Note that this does not guarantee you will be successful in securing mines site employment.  

  • Physical fitness for the intended role (as determined by a pre-employment medical)
  • Ability to pass a Drug and Alcohol Test
  • Mining industry Generic Inductions and/or mine site specific inductions

Be prepared prior to join the workforce, It makes the difference when you send your curriculum to an HR.

 

Basic Certifications:

  • Class C driver license (manual) -First Aid

Useful Certification: 

  • HR driver license (unrestricted)
  • Confined space RIIWHS202D – Enter and Work in Confined Spaces
  • Work safely at heights RIIWHS204E – Work Safely at Heights -Forklift license. TLILIC0003 – Licence to Operate a Forklift Truck Specific Certifications to job
  • Rigging license (Basic – Intermediate – Advanced) -Scaffolding license (Basic – Intermediate – Advanced) -Dogging license
  • CN Crane
  • Earthmoving machinery -EWP
  • OSH

More specific jobs as Geologist, Engineer etc require a degree or higher qualifications.

  • MSMPER205 – Enter Confined Space
  • MSMPER200 – Work in Accordance with an Issued Permit
  • White Card
  • Rep. WHS
